We are pleased to announce the release of MSCUI 8.2, which offers our new Quick Reference information accelerators and incorporates the latest additions to the Clinical Documentation Solution Accelerator (CDSA) 1.1. It also includes an update to the Patient Journey Demonstrator to include a prototype medical imaging viewer.

CDSA has been updated to provide additional resources, including a new ‘how-to’ video, to show how to prepopulate your document with data from your own clinical system.
Design Guidance Quick Reference
Quick Reference information accelerators provide you with rapid access to the user interface definitions in the existing MSCUI design guides. We’ve created two types of accelerator:
The Interactive Quick Implementation Guides present the guidance in a visual, hyperlinked style. You can jump directly to the particular interface areas you are interested in and instantly see the guidance referenced against specific usage examples. We have created Interactive Quick Implementation Guides for each of the so-called ‘demographic’ MSCUI design guides adopted by the UK’s Information Standards Board for Health and Social Care (ISB) as standards throughout the National Health Service (NHS) in England. We have also produced interactive guides for other key guidance areas, including Medication Line, Medications List and Search and Prescribe.
Crib Sheets are single page, ‘at-a-glance’ summaries of the key guidance points. We’ve prepared Crib Sheets for the same areas covered by the Interactive Quick Implementation Guides (though not for Medications List or Search and Prescribe). Each Crib Sheet focuses on a specific area of guidance, which means that some design guidance has more than one Crib Sheet. We provide individual Crib Sheets as single PDF documents: simply download those that are relevant to your implementation needs.

Patient Journey Demonstrator - Medical Imaging Viewer
Featured in the latest Patient Journey Demonstrator release is a prototype medical imaging viewer. This viewer displays images according to the DICOM specification. The technical prototype was used to demonstrate how the capabilities of Microsoft’s Silverlight technology could be applied to medical imaging. The combination of “Scale” and “PlaneProjection” transforms create a 3D effect for the user. Although the color depth supported by Silverlight is 24bpp (bits per pixel) in the RGB (Red Green Blue) range, the grayscale images from the scanner need to be mapped into this range, hence reducing the quality of the image that could otherwise be displayed. We have considered using a tool to “tweak” this range; however for this demonstration we wanted to share what we have. Source code is not available for this viewer as it is not a reference implementation, just a demonstrator!
